WAX Tokyo Spring Trip Info Session

Date: Thursday, November 3rd at 6 PM | Thursday, November 10th at 6 PM
Where: JMHH F36

This year, WAX’s Spring Trip will be in Tokyo, Japan from March 4 -March 11, 2017. The main purpose of this trip is to learn more about the companies, internship opportunities, and culture in Japan. The industries we will explore include but are not limited to finance, technology, gaming, consulting, real estate, etc. In addition, there will be cultural excursions based on participants’ interests.

The trip is open to all Penn students in any of the four schools. Applicants do not need to know Japanese. Attend one of the two info sessions to learn more about the trip and the application process. For any further questions, feel free to email waxspringtrip2017@gmail.com.

WAX Asian Culture Trivia Night

Date: Monday, November 21st at 8 PM
Where: JMHH 255

Do you like trivia? Do you like free food? (The answer to at least one of these questions should be yes.)

Come join Wharton Asia Exchange for a night of trivia related to Asian cultures, planned by our NewGen members! Whether you consider yourself an expert on Asia or if you’ve never even heard of Gangnam Style, come for a good time, free donuts, and the potential to win $40 in Starbucks gift cards ($10/member)!

WAX Second GBM: Industry Skills

We will be going over spring trip details, revealing the family group challenge winner, board transtion process, and committee updates. In addtion, we will be having a workshop focusing on providing an overview of various industry specific skills. For example, Argus for the real estate industry.

WAX Presents: Andy Okun

Date: Wednesday, March 30th, 6:00 PM

Join WAX, FDTIC, WCBS and AKPsi to learn about Andy Okun’s personal experiences working at Solomon Brothers Inc. and co-founding Watermark, a fixed income arbitrage group. Mr. Okun will give insight into the markets in which he invests, and into the hedge fund industry as a whole. Mr. Okun earned a B.S. in Economics summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in 1981.

Skim Resume and Interview Speed Dating Workshop

Wharton Asia Exchange is providing an opportunity for students to learn how to best present themselves while pursuing their aspirations and future career. In an increasingly competitive world, it is imperative that we too maintain our competitive edge. WAX’s Skim Resume and Interview Speed Dating Workshop is an interactive approach to maintaining this competitiveness. Seniors, including WAX alumni, will be skimming through resumes and providing constructive feedback individually, as well as participating in quick fit interviews with attendees to give advice on how to convey one’s interests. We are excited to see you there! Food will be served.

WAX and CSA Presents: Business and Social Etiquette in Asia

Location: PAACH (Pan-Asian American Community House) (ARCH)

Join WAX and CSA to find out more about different business and social etiquette cultures in Asia. If you are looking to work in Asia or just want to gain a better understanding of other cultures, definitely come out to the event on Wednesday 3/23 at 6PM in PAACH!!
We’ll be doing small group activities focused on China, Hong Kong, and Korea, and provide handouts with some general tips for several other countries for reference.


Going Behind the Business of Games

Video games have taken the entertainment world by a storm, but people often overlook the opportunities that lie within the industry aside from professional gaming or video game development.

Wharton KUBS, SASE, and WAX are excited to present a speaker panel with interns and employees from Riot Games, Blizzard Entertainment, and personal start-up ventures. Hear about our speakers’ personal experiences, and come prepared with your own questions as well!
