Committees

WAX is teamwork

Wharton Asia Exchange is now an 11 year-old organization under the Wharton Council of the University of Pennsylvania. Under this time period the club has burgeoned to over 90 members in 7 different committees. Each committee has different tasks and responsibilities to handle from one another. These subtle differences allow a student-member to commit to his work of choice. Though these committees may perform differently, they all help contribute to the performance and excellence of this organization. You may learn more about each of these seven groups by selecting from the options to your right.

Event Committees: These committees are designed to create their own events and publications for the rest of the WAX membership and the Penn community.
1. Professional Committee – This committee works to bring in speakers, host case competitions, and host other events to educate Penn about the different industries in Asia and around the world. The signature event each spring is Spotlight Asia, which brings in speakers and focuses on one industry in Asia.
2. Corporate Committee – This committee works with banking and financial services companies to put on recruiting events for the members and the rest of the Penn community. The signature event each spring is the Asia Recruiting 101 event, which brings together resources from various Asian companies and teaches the skills needed to be successful in Asia recruiting.
3. Spring Trip Committee – This committee is responsible for selecting, planning, and leading participants on a trip to a major Asian city each year during Spring Break. Past destinations have included Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Dubai. During the week-long trip, participants visit companies, experience the culture, and learn more about the Asian business world.
4. Journal Committee – This committee publishes the Wharton Asia Journal each semester, with themes in the past such as finding summer internships, spotlights on major Asian cities, and the economic changes in Asia.

Support Committees: These committees are designed to support the club and membership base as a whole, and members are more involved with the activities of WAX in general.
5. Financial Affairs Committee
6. Human Resources Committee
7. Marketing Committee
