The Professional Committee serves WAX by hosting various educational events geared towards enhancing students’ professional development. In the past, the committee has organized a series of roundtable discussions that explore global business topics, such as the repercussions of TPP and the impeachment of the South Korean President. The Committee also hosts various workshops, including negotiations and Bloomberg Terminal workshops, that teach students tangible and practical skills. Throughout the year, the Committee also work actively with the Board to collaborate with various student organizations on campus to bring the best presenters and speakers to share their experiences; past guest speakers include Solomon Brothers Inc.’s Andy Okun. In addition to smaller scale events, the Committee organizes two of WAX’s biggest events of the year – Asia Spotlight Week (ASW) in the Fall and WAX Stock Pitch Competition in the Spring. Past Asia Spotlight Week events include industry spotlight with MBAs, student internship panels, and conversations with Chinese governmental officials, and the Stock Pitch Competition walks participants through the process of producing a winning pitch from start to finish. The Professional Committee strives to create invaluable learning opportunities for students who are interested in developing professional skills or pursuing a Career in Asia.
