WAX seeks to provide summer internship opportunities to students at all the undergraduate schools at Penn: the Wharton School of Business, the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the School of Nursing. WAX often forms partnerships with local companies that provide unparalleled opportunities and experiences in their respective countries. In the upcoming year, WAX plans to organize a campus-wide Asia Internship Fair. It is expected to generate strong student interest, with companies such as Goldman Sachs, UBS, Deloitte, and Morgan Stanley, among others.

Mock interview, COSCO
In the fall of 2007, the Wharton Asia Exchange coordinate an enormous effort with UBS to provide students interested in internships in Asia the chance to have mock interviews with recruiters from the Asian offices of UBS. In just three days of advertising, WAX received over 50 applicants for mock interviews. These interviews were a great success and provided many individuals the opportunity to network with UBS recruiters early in the process!

The Professional Committee also executed a tremendous project featuring a visit from Captain Wei Jia Fu, CEO of COSCO, the largest shipping company in China.

Captain Fu spoke about his success, the Asian business environment, and offered a unique perspective on the future of business. Select students had the chance to meet, mix, and mingle with Captain Fu and his colleagues at a special reception held in the top floor sky lounge of Wharton’s Huntsman Hall.
